If you run a blog or website, chances are that you’ve heard of search engine optimization (or SEO for short). Search engine optimizers are people who tweak websites until they come up on top of major search engines’ search results so that their websites get more traffic.

Since they are often addicted to statistics and like to monitor their websites’ rankings daily (at the very least!), DailySEOblog.com lists five iPhone applications to help SEO and I included a bonus one.

1. Domain Tracker

Domain Tracker is a free iPhone app used to track the Google PageRank of a domain and is mostly useful for a quick lookup of a website’s PageRank.

2. Pokeseo

Pokeseo allows you to check your PageRank and the number of backlinks (sites linking to yours). You can send email reports directly from the application. Pokeseo is available from the iPhone Store for $0.99.

3. SEO Search Ranking

SEO Search Ranking allows you to easily monitor your websites’ search engine ranking for unlimited amount of keywords and is available from the iPhone Store for $1.99.

4. Analytics App

Analytics App gives you access to your Google Analytics data on the go. It is available for $5.99 from the iPhone Store.

5. proSEO – SEO Content Analyzer for iPhone

proSEO is a SEO content analyzer for iPhone and prepares 14 different analysis of a website’s content. It is available for $9.99.

6. SiteRank (bonus)

SiteRank is a free iPhone application that allows you to monitor your Google PageRank and Alexa rankings on your iPhone.

The iPhone is a great platform to develop on and distribute SEO applications at a low price and I hope we see more of them in the future.

Following up on a previous article, 7 tips to help protect your cell phone privacy, here is a software that can help you protect sensitive information on your cellphone: Save.

Save is a software dedicated to password protect your cellphone information and personal data. AVE Technologies, the company behind the software, says it can even inform a contact of your choice if your cellphone is stolen or lost by sending an alert the moment someone changes the SIM card. Save is compatible with Symbian Series 60 cellphones, such as the Nokia N90 and Samsung SGH-D730 smartphones.

Such a software should be useful for anyone carrying sensitive data on a cellphone. In fact, a trial version is available from AVE Technologies‘ website. The selection of phone Save is compatible with is limited though, but as I understand it, in order to offer hard to crack protections, the software relies on the power of the operating system and that’s why Save is not available on every cellphone.

As more people use their phones as digital agenda, a problem always comes up sooner or later: how to synchronize an Outlook Calendar and a cell phone? Tech Tag explains 2 ways to synchronize Outlook with a cell phone using a synchronization standard called syncML.

First, you need a few things:

1. syncML compatible phone
2. WAP connection (GPRS, 3G)
3. A syncML account (scheduleworld, zyb)
4. Outlook

Then, there are two Outlook plugins you can use:

• Funambols syncML plugin. This plugin is free, but according to Tech Tag, it has a few issues but they managed to make it work and they explain how to.
• Nexthause’s Outlook plugin. It is available in a 15 days trial version or a $29 paid version.

This how-to sounds pretty simple and is very well detailed. Follow the steps and your synchronization should be up and running in no time!

Mobile GMaps
Mobile GMaps is a free java application that can be downloaded to your cell phone. It allows you to view Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, Windows Live Local and Ask.com Maps on your cell phone screen. You can also connect a bluetooth-compatible GPS to your cell phone and receive accurate positioning!

Google Maps Mobile
Google now also offering Google Maps Mobile for free. While Google Maps Mobile doesn’t support GPS positioning, it provides cell phone specific features such as ‘click to call’. Here’s a list of supported phones.

Now you can leave your home without the fear of getting lost ever again. I guess.
